We had the privileg of spending some time on the river with Wasatch Guide Services that opened our eyes to the challenge, enjoyment and excitement of fly fishing on the Provo River just minutes from our front door. We needed to experience the river first hand so we can recommend what many guests travel for thousands of miles to do on the Provo River. Our guest Michael shares his thoughts below from our day on the river…
With the weather improving, in fact its darn right beautiful in the mountains, its the perfect time to come for a relaxing stay at Stewart Mountain Lodging and plan to fish the Provo River. On a recent day, we brought many fish to hand including a bonafide 22″ 4 pound rainbow! The lower and middle Provo continue to fish well for bulldogging browns and acrobatic bows!
Size #18 Sow Bug and a size #18 mayfly dropper were the ticket. Tight lines!

Fly fishing has become increasingly more and more than just a “mancation”. The fly fishing industry is seeing a surge of interest in women taking to the rivers with rod in hand. Luckily we have miles and miles of river access with plenty of room for everyone.

Michael had in impressive day on the river landing several trout of his own while giving us a crash course lesson in nymphing, blood knots, indicators, rod loading, mending and all about the presentation. We loved every minute of it!
